5 Mistakes Make By People Making Money Online

July 27th, 2008

To be successful online, not only can we learn from what people is doing right but we can also learn from the mistakes of people. In this post, I am going to share with you 5 common mistakes make by ordinary people who are making money online so that you do not make the same mistakes.

Here are the 5 common mistakes.

1) Not driving enough traffic – As I mention that making money online, you need to have a product that people want and then drive traffic to that product. But what most people does is that they spend so much time creating the product but too little time on driving traffic to their site.

Then after some time, they conclude that their products are not making any sales and then they give up with their product and then move on to create any product. But what was the mistake is that they didn’t put in consistent effort in generating traffic to the site to generate sales.

In fact you should spend 60% or more of your time marketing your site instead of other activities.

2) Doing a few projects at the same time – This is another common mistakes make by marketers. They have too many ideas in your head and that is the reason they tend to implement to many projects at the same time and in the end got nothing completed or taking them too long to complete a project and start generating traffic.

To avoid this mistake, you should carry a notepad or a voice recorder with you so each time you have a fresh idea, just jot it down into your notepad and move on with your current project. When you complete that project, then you take out the notebook and see what other ideas you can implement.

This is to help you to stay focus and not forget the great ideas that you have.

3) Perfectionists – This mistake are usually made by people who are perfectionist. They are so particular about having the best product and end of keeping modifying the product and the end didn’t get anything launched.

Nothing is perfect in this world, even the best product that created by the marketing gurus are not perfect. The main thing is not to get it perfect, but get it launched and you modify it along the way. You see if Bill Gates will still their window program is perfect, he will not be billionaires today.

4) Focus on non money generating activities – I seldom hear people talk about this. As a business owner, your time should focus on planning how you can expand your business and not on those mandate activities.

For the start, if you do not have the budget, you may be doing all those activities yourself but once you have enough money, it is time that you outsource these task to people so that you can maximize the time that you have.

Everyone has only 24 hrs so you have to leverage the effort of others in order to bring your business to the next level.

You can hire people from sites like elance.com or getafreelancer.com to outsource your work to other people.

5) Read Email Syndrome – I must admit that sometimes I make this mistake too. In the morning, I open up my email, and unknowingly I have been checking emails and surfing around for the past 2 hours.

That is a lot of time wasted that could spend on your business. That is why I always encourage people to work on a computer without a internet access and have your day planned so that you know what you need to do each day and will not lose focus.

Conclusion
Above are the 5 mistakes that I personally made and I hope you don’t make the mistakes Iike I do and I wish you all the best for your business!

Are you making the above mistakes too? Let me know your thoughts by leaving your comment!

How to finally succeed in making money online

July 22nd, 2008
by Tony Hetherington

The only way to get success in the online world is to create a plan or blueprint or have one given to you. Then have the commitment, drive and ambition to take the necessary action to follow it through. It doesn’t matter if you’re selling your own ebooks, widgets or work as an affiliate for someone else you have to follow a route map to success and follow it through to the end.

The slightest problem seems to not only blow most people off course but makes them give up altogether! The lack of plan means that there is no drive forward so any problem at all can derail them. So where does it all go so badly wrong?

We’re too easily mislead along a new path - We set off on one path hoping that this time we’ll find success only be distracted by the latest guru offer as soon as it lands in our mailbox. So we set off on that path with renewed hope and a reduced bank balance until we’re distracted again. It’s as if we take the wrong turn at every junction and then wonder why we always end up at the start again. It’s not the gurus fault that you fall for their latest offer, instead you should try deleting those emails until you have completed one task from start to finish.

We train without learning - Many gurus offer online training and seminars that create an instant buzz and the feeling that you too can acheive such results but since the training is focussed on them and their acheivements and not on you and your plans they fade very quickly.

We give up too easily - It appears to be human nature to give up at the first hurdle. Quite why we do this when trying to get into the online business when we’ll persevere in the real world has to be the stuff of some future psychological research. My theory is that deep down we don’t fully understand what we’re doing and why - this means we start thinking we will fail and so we give up and the first problem. That first problem is probably I’ve written one article and not had dozens of visitors, why not? If we had something to believe in that was fully explained then we would see it through and get to the success.

We fail to follow up the plan with the necessary action - To get success online you need to have a plan and then take all the action necessary to fully implement it. That may seem obvious but if you aren’t prepared to invest the required time and effort you will inevitably fail again and again leaving you open to those quick fix scams.

Stop! It’s not your fault! Everything you’ve been told about affiliate marketing and making money online is wrong! It’s time to put the cons and scams behind you and take control of your online future.

It’s actually surprisingly simple to find a route map to success.

1. Choose a path or a product - I’m going to recommend a method below but if that doesn’t appeal then find something that does.

2. Read everything twice. Read through all the information at least twice and make note of everything single step that you will need to complete. The detail will allow you to complete it.

3. Break down the plan into a detailed task list - This approach means that nothing will be forgotten or missed out.

4. There are many different approaches you can now take. Either start at the top of the list, start with some easy tasks or tackle them in a mixture of the other two. The important thing is that you keep going and get those tasks crossed off.

5. Whenever you have some free time do a task.

6. Keep on going until the list is complete.

7. Take the time out to celebrate the first sign up to an autoresponder and that first sale and other landmarks.

I am quite happy to be making a living from the internet, and you can enjoy the lifestyle also, all you have to do is take the plunge! Take baby steps, you have to crawl before you walk! You can do it, I am still learning, one thing I did learn early on, do not listen to all the hype, and outsource whatever you can!

Social Networking and Affiliate Marketing

July 7th, 2008

by David Cooper

Many affiliate marketers have already come across the term “social networking” in the last year or so, but not all of them know what this means. And most affiliates have no idea how to use social networking websites to promote their affiliate products.

Social networking sites are also referred to as Web 2.0 sites. These are simply an extension of the community based websites you probably already use. Forum, discussion boards, and active blogs for instance, are all a form of social networking. They contain groups of people who are all interested in the same or similar topics.

The social networking sites which have become popular lately, tend to integrate a little more interactivity into the mix though. Some of them allow members to broadcast messages to each other; some allow uploading of pictures, videos, or audio files; some have hundreds of different discussion boards for members to talk on; some allow you to save and share your bookmarks with friends; and some even allow you to earn additional advertising or affiliate revenue from the content pages you add to their network.

One of the most important things you need to know about social networking though, is that each site has it’s own individual rules. In some places you might be allowed to link directly to an affiliate product or program for instance, while in others you may be restricted to links which lead to your own blogs or websites only. And there are some places which say you’re not supposed to link to anyplace where you’re trying to sell stuff.

By using social networking sites which allow you to link to an affiliate sales page, your own website, or a blog you run, you can dramatically increase the amount of income you’re making as an affiliate though. As long as you play by the specific rules for the sites you’re using, and you do your promotions consistently and well.

On forums and discussion boards for instance, you can’t usually just go in and post an advertisement. Instead, you need to join the discussions which are already in progress. Try your best to provide helpful and useful content to other members of the board, and be sure to post as often as possible too. In each post, you should have a forum signature which contains a small ad for what you’re offering. Link that signature to your website, blog or affiliate sales page. Then the more you post, the more that signature will be seen. And the more helpful and useful your posts are, the more other members will be inclined to click your links.

If you use a social networking site which allows you to create and share your website bookmark links, then you’ll want to link to your website, blog, and affiliate sales pages of course. Be sure to put a brief description on the links if you’re able to, because this can help entice other members to see what you’re linking to.

Affiliate Marketing - The Real Profits are Here…

July 7th, 2008

Affiliate Marketing Part One - An Excellent Income

Affiliate Marketing can provide you with an excellent source of income if you approach

Let me give you an example.

I love playing the drums (been a while, but I love it). So I tap into Google the search phrase, Paiste 22″ Cymbal. Wow, a whole bunch of listings come up in the organic searches, and a few paid for Adwords ads.

If I took the time to punch that into Google, and you as the Affiliate Marketer provide me with useful information about the search I looked for, the odds are I will stay at your site, read your content and then look for an exit point.

This is where it is important that you place your ads correctly, and you provide me with a reason to click off where you want me to and not simply close my browser.

There are many affiliate tools you can use here, but the main aim is for you to now have me click your affiliate link to leave the page.. Or if you are a real smart cookie, get me to join YOUR mailing list FIRST, then leave your page via an affiliate link.

Now you have my attention, you can send me MORE RELEVANT information on my search type, and you increase the chances of “selling” me something later on down the road. You may even get an affiliate sale off me today as I leave your site as well.

So when planning your affiliate content.. Think about why you are doing it and what it is going to do to benefit ME YOUR VISITOR.

The Common Mistakes That Affiliates Make in Marketing

July 7th, 2008

Author: Scott Bamboo

You may surprise to hear that 95% of affiliates make no money whereas the affiliate marketing is a proven profitable online business where affiliates can earn a luxury income. What are the mistakes made by these affiliates who failed in affiliate business? If you want to success in affiliate marketing, you must avoid those common mistakes made by most affiliates and follow the proven success path.

Here are the common mistakes that affiliate make in marketing:

1. Their Website Not Search Engines Friendly

Search engines are important agents between the internet users and your website. Search engines will sort out the most relevant search result based on the keywords enter into the search box. They are the best source for long-term, free traffic for your affiliate sites. If you want your affiliate business to be successful, your website must able to be found by search engines on the relevant search’s keywords. Hence, you site must be built and be optimized for search engines with as many relevant keywords and contents as possible so that the search engines will find your pages for someone who are looking for products/services/information provided at your affiliate sites.

2. Use Too Many Banners

One of the common mistakes make by affiliates is they use too many banners in their affiliate sites. Although Banners with graphics and animation will make your site look attractive, banner marketing will not work for all market niches. You must study the effectiveness of using banners in the market niche you are interested in promoting with affiliate products. Niche markets such as casino gambling, games and entertainment may work fine with banners but finance, stock and home business may not attract internet users to click on the banners. Don’t fill your site with banners; instead you should put in the efforts by having more relevant contents, personal endorsements and short descriptions with related text links. The useful contents with recommendation for your affiliate products will drive more conversion from the traffic landed to your website to affiliate revenue.

3. Using Free Services

Affiliates who have their websites hosted at free hosting site with a free e-mail address will make their site looks not professional. Doing this is like sending the message to your website visitors that either you have not made any money or you really don’t what you are doing. Then, how can your potential subscribers or affiliate product’s buyers trust on what you are promoting?

Domain name and web hosting service are cheap today, you can get a domain name with a good web hosting package with less than $50 a year. In the long run, it will make your site look professional and more of your website visitors will take you seriously.

4. Think That Affiliate Revenue Is Easy Money

Many affiliates start their affiliate business with a hope to earn fast & easy money. They think that affiliate marketing is easy and they can be successful to earn a luxury income without the need to put in any effort. Affiliates who think to earn fast and easy money from affiliate marketing will normally being disappointed and give up the end.

Affiliate marketing is like other business, it needs you to spend time and efforts to build up the foundation and follow the required path in order to success as an affiliate who earns a non-stop income stream.

Summary

Affiliate marketing is a proven business model and many affiliate marketers have made their success with this business model. Avoid yourself from making the common mistakes that most affiliates make in marketing if you want to create your own success story in affiliate marketing.

Making More Money With Affiliate Feeds

June 29th, 2008

I love my RSS reader. I have a gazillion website, blog and news feeds set up in there, and I get the latest information from all of my favorite sites. That means I can be one of the first to share it with you. And RSS Reader 1.0 has a doorbell sound effect that rings when there are new feed entries to read. So wherever I am in the house I hear it and take a look. I also get the additional bonus of six barking dogs to announce the new feed entries.

As an aside, I noticed something very interesting. Because of my RSS reader I was one of the first to cover adsenseblacklist.com, a terrific new web site that will help you screen out the cheesy AdSense ads. Because I was on it first, I popped up in the first five Google search results for this keyword for a while, which drove traffic to this site. So watch your RSS reader.

All that being said, we are beginning to see RSS used as auto update feature for websites and blogs. The first application was RSS feeds that automagically update your site with articles in your subject area from a free article site. The rationale is that this will give you fresh content that search engines will eat right up. They call it spiderfood. I call it a dumb idea. Have you read some of these articles? There?s a wide disparity in quality from one to another, and I would never allow articles to be put blindly on my web site without my approval. For crying out loud?you spend hours and hours of time getting your site to a certain level of quality to build a certain level of trust with your visitors, and then you?re going to allow some hack to put his content on your site without your approval, just so maybe a search engine will come a few extra times? That?s just stupid.

Need more content? Turn off the football game and write some.

Seriously?if you want to use articles as supplemental content, hand pick them. Just like famous Internet marketer Wille Crawford did on his blog when he picked my article Chitika - What Went Wrong (a little humor there). I have at least 20 - 30 articles in an Outlook Folder that I?m going to post on the site as soon as a I get a chance. That?s the good news ? the bad news is I went through 500 or so articles to get those.

Closer to home, affiliate merchants are starting to get into datafeeds, which are sort of like file-based RSS feeds. Datafeeds provide direct access to merchant products using text files. The file contains a list of products, services, special offers, coupons or other information that you can display on your site. You then upload that information to your server and use some kind of tool or script to display the different items in that file. There are programs on CJ, LinkShare and Shareasale that have datafeeds.

While others are absolutely gaga over this, I look at it with the same jaundiced eye as the whole article thing ? it all depends on your niche, the level of trust you want to maintain with your customer, and how technical you want to get.

If you have a niche that has a well-matched affiliate program, you might try a product feed. If you want to put up an occasional coupon or special offer, you can probably do it by hand rather than going through all of this mumbo jumbo.

We are starting to see products that convert merchant datafeeds to RSS, allowing you to auto-display products from affiiliate programs. Again, if you can maintain relevance across the entire affiliate line, it?s a good idea. If not, you?re not going to get conversion anyway, so you?re wasting your time. Personally I want everything including the advertising, to have relevance to my visitors.

There?s always a shortcut ? in this case you?re shortcutting the time and effort involved in finding relevant offers for your visitors. That may work with some sites.

If you want to know more or give it a shot, here are some resources:

1. FiveStarAffiliatePrograms - They love the idea, but I think they?re plugging their own tool.

2. Smartsville has a nice synopsis. Oh?they also have a tool.

One last thing ? while I was out looking for links and information, this is what someone said about using datafeeds:

Soon, I will let you know how I put this all on autopilot and never have to think about the blog again after I spend a few hours setting it up!

How do you think that blog is doing?Matt DeAngelis runs Affiliate Blog. Matt is the former CTO of Modem Media, a pioneer in the Internet ad space. As a foot soldier in the Internet revolution, Matt devised the technology behind many of the most successful ad campaigns of the time.
